Education

In villages, school drop-out rates remain high, girls skip school and many students fail to acquire secondary education. SST is working with parents and government schools to eliminate these imbalances.

We create awareness through parent and teacher meetings. Our aim is to motivate parents to send kids to school and keep them there. We are helping schools be better places to learn in, by improving school infrastructure. We offer career counselling to students to improve their employability after they finish school.

We also emphasise on education that teaches social skills and life skills. With this, every child has a better chance in society.

At our adult education centres, we focus on functional literacy so older people become independent.

“Summer camp improved my ability to understand and learn. I am no longer afraid of going to school,” Navin, student of Koneyanpattinam School.
